| Guyana on birdwatching map |

Birdwatching is the star attraction of Guyana’s rising status as a prime ecotourism destination, as evidenced at this year’s British Birdwatching Fair, followed by a what has become a new tradition, the Guyanese Summer Evening. For the fifth year in a row, the Guyana Trade and Investment Support (GTIS) project has helped promote the country there as part of its overall strategy to put Guyana on the tourism circuit. Several government and private entities have jumped on the bandwagon: the 2010 Guyanese Summer Evening was sponsored by El Dorado rum and the Bradt travel guide, together with GTIS, the Guyana Tourism Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, Industry & Commerce, Wilderness Explorers and the Iwokrama International Centre.
