CARANA is seeking a dynamic and innovative Chief of Party for an upcoming multi-million dollar USAID-funded project entitled Financial Advisory and Business Services (FABS) Program. The anticipated project will implement strategic interventions to design and implement new financial products for Ethiopian banks and improve business development services offerings in the country. The program will increase the options available to banks to improve and expand their lending to the private sector, and will provide technical assistance to business development services (BDS) companies in the country in order to improve their services for SMEs and increase demand for BDS within the private sector.

Candidates for this position should be senior level professionals with a proven track record of successfully implementing and managing financial, banking, and/or BDS programs in countries with a socio–cultural and economic situation similar to Ethiopia. The COP will be responsible for oversight of the entire project, and will be required to work with various stakeholders, including high level government officials.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, trade or other relevant graduate degree;
  • At least 10 years of technical experience in finance, banking, or BDS programs in developing country contexts;
  • Familiarity with the social-economic landscape of Ethiopia is preferred;
  • Demonstrated excellent communications and writing ability and superior interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills;
  • Demonstrated  experience in developing and managing alliances with the private sector and counterparts at the highest levels of government;
  • Extensive knowledge of USAID administrative and procurement practices; and 
  • Previous COP experience in Africa is preferred.
